Sixty per cent voter turnout in Bihar Panchayat poll
Patna, May 27 (UNI) Barring a few incidents of attempted booth capturing, the fifth round of Panchayat polls in Bihar passed off peacefully today with an estimated sixty per cent voter turnout.
State Home Secretary Afzal Amanullah and Inspector General Police (headquarters) Anil Kumar Sinha told reporters that polling was held according to schedule in 58 blocks of 38 districts of the state.
As precautionary measures altogether 1087 people were detained while they were trying to influence polling in different parts of the state.
Besides Special Auxiliary Police, Jawans of Bihar Military Police, Central Reserve Police Force and Homeguards were deployed to ensure fair and smooth polling.
