Rains, strong winds lash Akola region

Akola, May 27 (UNI) The residents of the district got a respite from severe heat last evening following light to moderate showers lashing the region, sources here said.

Trees were uprooted on Akola-Patur road, while weekly market at Murtizapur had to be shut down as the downpour began. There were also reports of tin roofs of houses in Ridhora and Barshitakli village being blown-off amind stong winds, weather sources said.

A cattlehead was also killed when a tree fell on it in Malipura locality here, sources said adding that several parts of Akola were plunged into darkness due to disruption of power supply following rains and winds.
