Punjab to increase Forests staff strength

Chandigarh, May 27 (UNI) The Punjab government will soon fill up the vacancies in the Forest department to enable it to effectively check the theft of forest wood and other forestry crimes which were occuring in the state due to severe shortage of staff.

This was assured by Punjab Minister of State for Forests Hans Raj Josan in his meeting with the senior officials of the Forest department here.

Presiding over the meeting of Chief Conservators officers and District Forests Officers, Mr Josan said the state government had decided to strengthen the forest department with the basic infrastructure, besides increasing the staff strength.
