DIC(K). ''The DIC(K) has not approached any one for a merger with the Congress and we would not go for it. The only aim now is to strengthen the party,'' he said , speaking at the 42nd death anniversary of Pandit Nehru at the party headquarters. Reacting to the United Democratic Front's statement that it had committed a mistake in the Assembly elections by forming an alliance with the DIC(K), Mr Karunakaran said the UDF could have fared even worse if the DIC(K) had not supported the Congress in the elections. It was the Congress which had tried to defeat the DIC(K) candidates in many places, he added. The DIC(K) had about 10,000 to 30,000 votes in each constituency and some of the Congress leaders had won only because these votes were polled in favour of them, he said. UNI |
