New Delhi, May 27 (UNI) Railway Minister Lalu Prasad inaugurated a new Computerised Passenger Reservation Centre at the Mall in Shimla this morning.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Prasad said the railways would continue to enhance facilities for the rail passengers to boost tourism in Himachal Pradesh, a statement said here.

Greater thrust would be given to enhance/strengthen the rail network in the region. He also affirmed the railway would hold talks with the government in declaring rail projects in the state as 'national projects'.

For the convenience of tourists and citizens of the city, this centre was being located at the Himachal Pradesh Tourist Information Centre on the Mall.

Presently, there were 15 PRS locations in Himachal Pradesh of which 11 were located in various district headquarters of the state.

Through this facility, rail customers need not travel down to the existing reservation centre for rail ticket-booking.

This computerised PRS centre would add to the 194 PRS centres presently in the Northern Railway network.

Rajya Sabha MP Suresh Bharadwaj, Lok Sabha MP Dhani Ram Shandil, State Minister for Excise and Taxation Rangila Ram Rao, Minister for Horticulture Singhi Ram and local MLA Harbhajan Singh Bhajji were prominent among those present on the occasion.
