Homage paid to Nehru on his death anniv

New Delhi, May 27: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today led the nation in paying homage to India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru on his 42nd death anniversary.

Dr Singh offered floral tributes to Pandit Nehru at Shanti Van here early this morning.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Minister for Urban Development Ajay Maken and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, several senior leaders and party workers also visited Shanti Van.

An all religion prayer meet was also organised on the occasion.

Many other functions, including those by the Delhi Government and Delhi Pradesh Committee, would be held throughout the day to mark the occasion.
