Allahabad, May 27 : Senior BJP leader and former union minister Murli Manohar Joshi today said in the greater interest of the people, the present state government headed by Mulayam Singh Yadav must go.

Talking to mediapersons here, Dr Joshi said UP was heading towards anarchy. ''There is no law and order situation. Businessmen are becoming victims of anti-social elements and being robbed in daylight. Criminals are collecting goonda tax even from doctors.'' He said the Samajwadi Party government must go and fresh assembly elections should be announced.

''If the centre takes any decision to oust the UP government, BJP would extend its full support.'' Dr Joshi said the provisions of reservation in our constitution were made to unite the society and not divide the people.

He said the benefits of reservation must reach the poors and backwards in the society.

The BJP leader suggested the government opened new institutions of higher and technical education and provided education to poors and backwards at affordable cost.

Dr Joshi lamented it was most unfortunate that farmers, who are backbone of our economy were being ignored by the Government.

''The government is not providing any facilities to farmers. They are not getting reasonable price of their produce and a large number of farmers are abandoning agriculture and adopting other trades, Dr Joshi said.'' He said there was a need to rethink on agriculture. We must find out the reasons why we are lagging behind in agriculture.

''It is an irony that the government is importing wheat on high prices from foreign countries, while not purchasing the products of her own farmers.'' Expressing concern on increasing terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Joshi said every effort was being made by terrorists to drive out nationalist Muslims after ousting Kashmiri Pandits, Sikhs and Buddhists.

He said BJP had been organising demonstratons in every district and had decided to organise dharna in Jammu from June 7 to 14 next, in which party workers from all over the country will participate.
