Mishaps claim 11 lives in UP

Lucknow, May 27 (UNI) At least 11 people were killed and six others injured in separate mishaps in Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hrs.

Official sources said a woman and her two children were killed and four others injured when a dilapidated wall collapsed in Kanth area of Moradabad today.

The mishap occurred at a rice mill in Umri Kala village this morning. The deceased were identified as Sumitra, her daughter Renu and Sunil. The injured were being treated in the district hospital.

Meanwhile, an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 to the kin of each deceased had been granted.

In another incident, a motorcyclist died on the spot and his two aides were grievously injured when they were hit by a jeep in Bhawanipur area of Siddharthnagar district today.

Similarly, Ravindra (9) was run over by a jeep in Gagha area of Gorakhpur district today, while Mohan (27) succumbed when a speeding truck hit him in Tariyasujan area of Kushinagar district last night.

A report from Mahoba said a 10-year-old boy died after he fell in a well at Pehria village in Kharela area today. An old woman, Revati (65), was hit by an unidentified vehicle in Karbai town. She later succumbed to her injuries.

Meanwhile, Mashkur Ahmad Ansari and his son Salman were killed when a tree fell over them in Mohammadi area of Lakhimpur Kheri last night.

A deranged man was killed when a heavy vehicle hit him in Mahanagar area of Lucknow this morning.
