Meerut, May 27 (UNI) It shall be feasible, tomorrow, to ascertain the exact direction of the most sacred centre of Islam-Kabah- from every corner of the world.

An amateur researcher of astronomy and geography, Saiyed Asim Ali Sebzwari, 82 years old, Senior Advocate of Meerut, has discovered a unique method for it. By this device, the exact direction of Kabah, can, now, be ascertained from every corner of the earth, even by a lay man, on two days- one of which is tomorrow, the 28th May, the other is 16th July.

Since Muslims pray - facing Kabah - situated in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, this direction has assumed special importance amongst Muslims, and for knowing that they have been, for long, making persistent efforts to devise a method, by which a common man may, without sophisticated equipment, find it. After prolonged efforts - stretching 63 years - Mr Sabzwari, has given out the result of his research by bringing out a booklet Kabah Numa, last year.

Efforts of Sabzwari, have been appreciated far off. Subzwari says that on this day - 28th May, in Nepal, at 2.58 pm in Bangla Desh, at 3.18 pm , in Pakistan, at 2.18 pm, in Afghanistan at 1.48 pm, in Indonesia, at 4.18, in Malaysia at 4.48 pm the exact direction of Kabah can be asscertained, by facing the sun, or marking shade of objects. On 16th July, 9 minutes may be added to these times. He had communicated this information to 68 countries, through their Embassies. He says that through this device, not only New Masjids can be built in correct direction, but Muslims can also mark this direction in their residential houses, where they, generally, set their direction on mere speculation.

He empasised that in this electronic age, although devices - like satellite based. Global positioning system (GPS) are available for detecting the exact position and direction of strategic targets, yet by co-ordinating astronomic and geographic knowledge, to find the exact direction of Kabah is such a discovery by which a lay man can determine the direction of Kabah.

Mr Sabzwari says that Kabah is situated in Makkah which is at 21 degrees Latitude (North) and 39 degrees Longitude (East) On 23rd March the sun is exactly vertical at Equator. From this date, it drifts towards north, and passes over Kabah on 28th May, and reaches 23 1/2degrees Latitude (Tropic of Cancer) on 23 June. It, then, reverts back towards south and again showers its vertical rays on Kabah on 16 July. On these two dates, it is 12.18 pm and 12.27 pm respectively, by Saudi Arabia Standard Time. At these two specific moments, it is visible from 101 countries of the world, where each shade of every object, is indicative of the exact direction of Kabah from that place. If we erect an iron rod - exactly vertical - or hang some weight by a rope - in a way that the weight may not touch the ground - the shade of the iron rod or the rope at 2.48 pm and 2.57 pm, at any place in India, shall indicte the exact direction of Kabah from the place of our experiment.
