Jammu, May 27 : Representatives of Kashmiri Pandits today turned down Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's proposal for identity cards for migrant families, saying the Union Government has surrendered before Pakistani supporters and pro-insurgents.

The Prime Minister, after the second round table in Srinagar on Thursday evening, had instructed the Jammu and Kashmir government to issue identity cards to migrant families within the next six months.

Amarnath Vaishnavi, All State Kashmiri Pandit (ASKP) Conference president who participated in round table along with three other Kashmiri Pandit representatives, said in a news conference that Kashmir Pandits do not need any identity cards.

'' The Prime Minister must know that despite a 17-year exile Kashmiri Pandits are not facing any identical or lingual crisis, therefore we don't need any such mercy from governments,'' he said.

Demanding a separate homeland for the community in the Valley, the senior leader said, '' We find enough reasons and strength for a separate homeland for exile where socialism, liberal and democratic fabric as enshrined by the constitution and laws of the Indian republic is guaranteed.'' ''I told the PM that we are facing genocide exodus for 17 years and now we cannot further trust those people who were responsible for our exile, therefore we are demanding the creation of a separate homeland on Kashmir soil for our resettlement,'' he informed.

Blaming the Kashmiri leadership for exile, Mr Vaishnavi said, '' in 1990, it was a complete failure and betrayal of the Kashmiri leadership, which forced the exodus of the entire Pandit community.'' '' The tacit approval of the majority community betrayed our trust and faith in it which trounced and trampled the slogan of much talked 'Kashmiriyat', '' he added.
