Indonesia quake death toll passes 3,000

JAKARTA, May 27 (Reuters) An earthquake that shook the area around the ancient royal city of Yogyakarta today killed at least 3,002 people, a government official said.

''The total death toll now is 3,002,'' Direvan, an official at the Social Affairs Ministry's disaster task force in Jakarta, told Reuters.
