Indian border troops kill two Bangladeshis - Dhaka
DHAKA, May 27 (Reuters) Indian border guards shot dead two Bangladeshis today along the country's northern Dinajpur frontier, taking the number of Bangladeshis killed in such incidents in the past week to eight, security officials said.
They said that, as in previous incidents, Indian Border Security Force troops had taken the two bodies into Indian territory. ''We have asked them to return the bodies but have had no response,'' said a Bangladesh Rifles border guard officer.
He said most of the victims were smugglers who frequently travelled across the border. ''Usually they make no cash transaction but barter goods and animals,'' said the officer, who asked not to be identified.
Usually friendly Bangladesh and India share a porous 4,000-km border, small parts of which are still undemarcated, officials said.
