Immolation 'Most Unfortunate': Singhvi

New Delhi, May 28 (UNI) An attempt by a young man to immolate himself at the venue of a rally to protest reservation of higher education seats for backward classes was regretted by the Congress tonight as ''most unfortunate.'' ''This is a most unfortunate incident,'' party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said, adding that ''it is a human problem.'' Mr Singhvi said there should have been no cause for concern in the minds of the students after the assurances and clarification by the Prime Minister, the government and the empowered Group of Ministers.

As to the protesting students and the immolation victim, Mr Singhvi said, details were yet to come but ''they have obviously been misled without being fully aware of the facts.'' Asked to elaborate, he said he was referring to government assurances that students' interests and prospects would not be prejudiced.
