Docs, students extend relay fast by 48 hrs
Ahmedabad, May 27 (UNI) Continuing their agitation against the government's OBC reservation policy, medical students and doctors here extended their 48-hour relay fast by another 48 hours today.
Meanwhile, a batch of 50 medicos left for New Delhi to participate in ''Desh Bachao'' rally of anti-reservation activists from across the country today.
The medicos' strike has crippled the medical services in general hospitals in the state causing problems to the patients. However, two junior doctors were attending duty in each shift in government hospitals to attend to emergencies. The health department too was co-ordinating with private hospitals to provide services in emergency cases.
Besides, medical students have organised a three-day blood donation camp which will end this evening. 110 bottles of blood have been collected so far, mainly from students and junior doctors.
