Discoms harassing shopkeepers while giving reconnection: Mukhi
New Delhi, May 27 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Jagdish Mukhi today alleged that the Discoms were harassing shopkeepers while giving them electricity re-connection after desealing of their shops.
Condemning Discoms for giving temporary connections to shopkeepers whose shops had been desealed, Prof Mukhi said,''the shopkeepers are being forced to pay Rs 500 per KW per week for three months. They are also being charged Rs 1500 for the electric meter as also for the cost of cable for re-connection of electricity. In this manner, for one reconnection, shopkeepers have to pay Rs 15000 to Rs 20000.'' ''And now, the Discoms are talking of giving temporary electricity connections to one year for the shopkeepers which will bring disaster for them,''he said.
Describing it as a great injustice to the shopkeepers, Dr Mukhi asked Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit to intervene in the matter and direct the Discoms to restore electricity connections to the desealed shops immediately without restoration charges, service lane charges and meter charges.
