Congress is 'Gulamon ki party': Mulayam

Mainpuri, May 27 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today termed the Congress ''Gulamon ki party'' (party of slaves).

Addressing a meeting of secondary non-teaching employees union here, Mr Yadav alleged that Congress' policy had always been based upon double standards.

''On the post of profit issue, double standard of Congress came to the fore in the case of Sonia Gandhi and Jaya Bachchan'', he alleged.

Lashing out at his opponents, the Chief Minister asserted all the parties had conspired to dislodge his government.

''Since assembly polls are near, Congress has also accelerated attacks on my government,'' he added.

Terming the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government ''anti-farmer'', the SP chief maintained the Centre was importing stale wheat from Australia at the cost of farmers' interest.

''UP is making big strides as far as development is concerned. We have posted 6 per cent growth and farmers are happy in my regime'', he claimed.

On the electricity front, Mr Yadav assured that the state would soon tide over power crisis, which had been plaguing the whole of North India.

Meanwhile, he announced that peons working in schools would now be called as 'Shikshak Sahayak' (Teachers' assistant).
