AP CM criticises TDP for neglecting Pulligada region

Pulligadda, Andhra Pradesh, May 27 :Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Rajasekhar reddy today alleged that the previous TDP government had neglected the development activities of the Pulligada region of Krishna district.

Addressing a public meeting here to mark the dedication of the new Penmudi-Pulligada bridge across the Krishna river, Mr Reddy said the 50-year long dream of the people of the region for a bridge had materialised today.

The new bridge constructed at the cost of Rs 71 crore will reduce about 105 km distance between Machilipatnam and the holy shrine Tirumala and 200 km between Chennai and Kolkata.

He said the bridge would be named after the veteran freedom fighter Mandali Venkata Krishna Rao.

He said the Pulichintala project initiated by his government would provide irrigation water to Krishna delta.

Mr Reddy criticised the people who filed a petition to stop the Pulichintala project, which was later cleared by the supreme court.

He said during the next three years the government would construct 55 lakh houses for the poor and needy compared to two lakh constructed during the previuos TDP regime.

The minister also laid the foundation stone for Rs 70 crore Avanigadda and Vijaywada double-line river bund project.
