Boycott call against Anti-Reservationists
New Delhi, May 27 (UNI) The All India Minorities Front (AIMF) today said it was giving a call to dalit and backward classes to ''boycott'' all anti-reservationists, their supporters and sympathisers.
The decision was taken at the National Executive of the AIMF, a party statement said. Representatives from 22 states attended the meeting.
Service and supply of eatables and other items of daily use to the anti-reservationists should be stopped by members of OBC and other depressed caste groups, the AIMF said, deploring the anti-quota protest.
Meanwhile, the lunch hour dharna by the pro-quota Medicos Forum for Equal Opportunities continued outside the All India Institute of Medical Sciences today as well.
Fifteen students from Rohtak medical College and two doctors from Maharashtra participated in the dharna, MFEO convenor Vikas Bajpai said.
Raising fears that the Government was likely to bow to pressure from the anti-reservation lobby and dilute provisions of the quota bill, the Forum demanded that the Prime Minister and Left allies of the UPA Government make their stand clear on the quota issue.
The anti-quota protest drew criticism from the SC/ST Medical Association of Delhi as well which issued a statement strongly backing the Government move and slamming the doctors who went on mass casual leave as part of their protest.
Meanwhile, the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha came out in support of the anti-quota movement. It charged the Congress-led Government with trying to divide society along caste lines. Hindu Yuvak Sabha activists joined the anti-reservation rally at the Ramlila Maidan here today, the Mahasabha said in a statement.
