3 lakh devotees take holy dip in Mandakini

Chitrakoot, May 27 (UNI) An estimated three lakh devotees today took the holy dip in Mandakini and performed 'parikrama' of the revered Kadamgiri here on the occasion of Vat Amavasya.

Despite scorching weather, people especially women keenly observed the rituals associated with the day.

Many women performed the 'parikrama' of the five kms long circumference of Kadamgiri by lying on the ground. It is believed that all miseries in one's life vanish this way.

Meanwhile, a person, Prahlad Kushwaha of Chhattarpur in Madhya Pradesh, was killed and 10 others were injured when a three-wheeler carrying them turned turtle in Chitrakoot.
