Viraat Badhwar finishes 2nd in Asia Pacific Junior Golf
New Delhi, May 26 (UNI) Playing superb golf, promising youngster Viraat Badhwar finished runners up at the 27th Junior Asia pacific Championship in Singapore today.
The Delhi boy finished with a tally of one-over par 217, according to information received here.
Badhwar had an opening round of three-over par 75 which he followed by two-under under par and on final round he had par 72.
His performance was the best by any Indian in the tournament. He is the only winner in his category from India so far. Viraat will now travel to San Diego, USA for the World Junior championship where he had finished runners up two years back.
In the team event, India finished overall sixth over all.
Lavery Kumar, playing in the individual capacity, finished eighth overall among the girls in Category B. Sharmila Nicollete stood 16th and Vaishavi 17th in Category A.
The championship was played over four days for Category A and Category B and three days for Girls and Boys in Category C and Category D.
The team consisted of two players from Categor A (15-17 years of age), two from Category B (13-15 years of age), while C and D Categories played as individual championship.
Indian team: Amanjyot Singh, Rahul Bakshi(Category A) Abhijit Chadha, Rommel Majumdar (Category B).
Individual players: Viraat Badhwar (Category D), Aineesh Ahluwalia (Category C) Girls team: Vaishavi Sinha, Sharmila Nicollete and Bhavan shetty.
