US praises Manmohan's efforts for dialogue in Kashmir
New Delhi, May 26 (UNI) The United States today lauded Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's efforts for involving people in the democratic process in Kashmir and protecting human rights.
In a statement here, Charge d'Affairs of US Embassy Robert O Blake said, '' the Embassy applauds the Prime Minister's constructive support for participatory democracy, dialogue and respect for human rights during his recent visit to Srinagar.'' He also condemned yesterday's killing of tourists by terrorists in Srinagar, saying the murder of innocent persons was a senseless and brutal crime.
''The Embassy will do all it can to help the government bring to justice those responsible for it,'' he said.
The Prime Minister yesterday ended his two-day visit to Srinagar where he had gone to chair the two-day second round-table conference on the Kashmir issue and review the political, security and economic situation in the state.
