US Pacific commander holds discussion with Indian Navy officials
Kochi, May 26 (UNI) Admiral Gary Roughead, Commander of US Pacific Fleet today held deliberations with Indian Navy officials on measures to strengthen bilateral relationship between the Navies, the current maritime security environment and global war on terror.
Accompained by Mrs Eilen Roughead, the Pacific Fleet chief arrived here yesterday on a two-day visit to the Southern Naval Command.
Vice-Admiral SCS Bangara, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command and other top officials received the Admiral at the Naval Air Station. The Admiral was presented a 50-men guard of honour prior to meeting the officials.
During their stay, the delegation visited various professional training schools and had discussions on wide ranging issues with the Indian Navy officials. Both the sides also discussed various training issues. Purchase of one Landing Platform Docks (LPD) to Indian Navy was also discussed.
