Triveni to set up 3 sugar units, co-generation plants and distillery

New Delhi, May 26 (UNI) Triveni Engineering and Industries Ltd (TEIL) today said it will set up three more sugar mills, increase co-generation power installed capacity, besides setting up a distillery at different locations in West Uttar Pradesh during the next one year.

The two-year expansion plan which started last year and continuing in the current year involve an investment of over Rs 1,000 crore under the Uttar Pradesh Government Sugar Incentive Policy.

The three new sugar units will come up at Swar, Chandanpur and Rani Nangal in Uttar Pradesh.

TEIL currently has four sugar units which will be raised to seven and the sugar production will also go up from 3,90,000 tonnes to 7,50,000 tonnes by 2007-08, taking the sugar cane consumption from 40,500 tonnes to 61,000 tonnes crushed per day.

TEIL currently has 45 MW of installed co-generation capacity which will be enanced to 68 MW during the current financial year besides establishing a distillery unit of 160 kilo litre per day capacity, in western UP itself.

Triveni also plans to address problems faced by rural and semi-urban community through its retail chain ''Triveni Khushali Bazaar (TKB)''.

Currently, there are 11 TKBs in operation with a base of more than 3.5 lakh customers. It intends to cover more than 15 lakh customers by the end of current financial year by opening 45 TKBs at the rate of 3 stores per month in the area of Western and Central UP and Uttaranchal.

Current locations include Khatauli, Deoband, Khurja, Bulandshahar, Baroat, Bagpat, Jansath, Ghatain, Sisauli, Telheri and Badgaon.

TKB has turned into a one-stop-shop for rual and semi-urban households. Apart from agri-input and cattle feed, the product range includes FMCG items, electronics, building materials, tyres, automobiles, cycle, plastic goods and furniture, diesel and petrol and many other products.

TKB has also developed a bio-compost brand Triveni Vardaan.

In the future, TKB plans on developing its own brands of seeds and pesticides and is also rendering the services like banking, agri-consultancy, home delivery and now insurance to its large customer base.

The Rs 1100-crore TEIL's area of focus is sugar and engineering.

With a strong rural network and specialisation in sugar, turbines, gears and gearboxes manufacture and water and wastewater treatment.
