Synopsys partners Parikrama to sponsor classroom

Bangalore, May 26 : Synopsys, a global leader in EDA software for semiconductor design, has announced a partnership with Parikrama Humanity Foundation to sponsor a classroom at the TNT Parikrama Centre for learning here.

This would entail supporting top-class ICSE English education, besides three meals a day, all healthcare and family care for 30 slum children for an entire year, Synopsys said in a release here.

Dr Aart de Geus, Chairman and CEO of Synopsys, who announced the partnership at a presee conference, said ''Our philanthropic goals centre primarily on education with an emphasis on maths and science to develop a new generation of skilled technologists who can give back to their own communities.

''We partner with local efforts not only by providing monetary grants, but also by providing the critical element of time through employee volunteer hours and leadership,'' he said yesterday.

Parikrama CEO Shukla Bose said, ''Our children are starting to realise that they are no different from children having the advantage of a more privileged education. Our aim is to show that even the poorest of the poor children have the capacity to compete and excel and be part of the new emerging India. By sponsoring a classroom, Synopsys has chosen to support a leadership programme that will create long-term lasting change. We thank them for this and for believing that children need the best education possible.'' Parikrama is a non-profit organisation with a mission to unleash the potential of under-served children such as those coming from the slums and streets of urban India.
