Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, May 26 (UNI) About 10,000 delegates are expected to attend the three-day 'mahanadu' (conclave) of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to be inaugurated by Party Supremo N Chandrababu Naidu tomorrow.

The conclave, organised to focus on the coming panchayat polls in Andhra Pradesh, will pay special attention to agriculture as the party had been drawing flak from the ruling Congress for neglecting the farm sector leading to suicides by farmers.

The delegates will discuss threadbare 24 resolutions, including political and economic, 'attacks' on TDP workers, price rise and law and order situation.

The conference is expected to prepare the cadres for the panchayat polls, especially after the party's debacle in the 2004 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections and the subsequent municipal and cooperative polls.

Mr Naidu has been visiting the districts and holding review meetings with party functionaries in an effort to galvanize the party mechanism and prepare it for the ensuing local body elections.

District Superintendent of Police B Srinivasulu reviewed the security measures for the conference.

Security in the city has been beefed up in view of VVIPs attending the conference.

Arrangements are proceeding at a brisk pace at the Arts College Grounds, the venue for the ''mahanadu.'' Addressing mediapersons at the venue, TDP General Secretary Kadiam Srihari blamed the Congress Government for its failure to fulfil promises to the people, especially the farmers.

The meeting will also deliberate on United Andhra Pradesh and the state's development. On the third day, a political resolution would be passed urging the formation of an alternative to the Congress and the BJP at the national level, he said.
