Sania-Molik sail into semis at Istanbul Open

New Delhi, May 26 (UNI) Sania Mirza and Alicia Molik outplayed the Croatian-Indonesian pair of Jelena Kostanic and Angelique Widjaja 6-3, 6-3 to cruise into the semifinals of the women's doubles event at the 200,000 dollar WTA Tier III Istanbul Cup.

The Indo-Australian pair will now take on Yuliana Fedak of Ukraine and Eva Hrdinova of Czechoslovakia, who beat the Russian pair of Vasilisa Davydova and Olga Panova 6-2, 6-4 in their second round match.

Sania and Alicia had earlier got a walkover from top seeds Anna-Lena Groenefeld of Germany and American Meghann Shaughnessy in the first round after Shaughnessy ruled herself out of the event due to a sprained right ankle.

Sania is already out of the singles event following her second round defeat at the hands of Michaella Krajicek.
