Reservation rage: Profs to return medals
Indore, May 26 (UNI) Even as the anti-reservation agitation sweeps tornado-like across the country Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital's Superintendent and a few other professors have declared that they would return their gold medals in support of the protest against 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in higher education institutions.
Dr D K Jain and the others came forward after 20 students announced that they would return of medals to President A P J Abdul Kalam as part of the agitation unleashed by the Junior Doctors Association's city unit.
''I had received the medal in 1968 on completion of the MBBS course,'' Dr Jain said..
The JDA's Dr Anand Rai said eminent neurologist Apurv Puranik was among 10 professors who had taken a similar decision.
Meanwhile, the JDA strike threw medical services out of gear in the hospital where the Health Department has specially deputed six physicians.
