Red sanders seized, 18 held

Tirupati, May 26 (UNI) Forest officials seized Rs six lakh worth red sanders and arrested 18 persons in this connection, near Nagayyagaripalli of Seshachalam Hills, near here, today.

On a tip-off in, a flying squad raided Nagayyagaripalli area where 146 red sander logs were kept ready for transportation and arrested 18 squad member V V Hariprasad told UNI.

He said the precious wood was being smuggled through different channels to port cities like Chennai for further transportation to foreign countries.
