Raj Babbar dares SP to expel him

Lucknow, May 26 (UNI) Suspended Samajwadi Party MP Raj Babbar today dared the party leadership to expel him, saying ''I have not done anything wrong''.

''The Samajwadi Party cannot dare to expel me as its leadership knows that I have not done anything wrong,'' Mr Babbar told UNI here.

The cine star-turned politician was suspended from the SP following his public outburts about the ''worsening party culture'' and virulent attacks on party General Secretary Amar Singh, accusing him of ushering in ''Broker Culture''. Mr Babbar also flayed the ''anti-people'' policies of the SP leadership on numerous occasions.

A defiant Mr Babbar said he was attending the proceedings of the House and following the whip of the party leadership. ''What is more important is that I am following the Samajwadi Party constitution...I will protest whatever is done against the party constitution,'' he said.

Mr Babbar had recently joined hands with former Prime Minister VP Singh to resurrect the Jan Morcha, an outfit floated by the latter about 16 years ago.

He was in the state capital to flag off a joint two-wheeler rally of former Prime Minister Chandrashekhar's Samajwadi Janata Party (Nationaslist) and the Nationalist Communist Party.

The day-long rally is aimed at garnering public support for the May 30 ''Mukti Sangram Rally'' where the Indian Justice Party of Udit Raj would formally announce its joining hands with the Jan Morcha.
