Kanpur, May 26 (UNI) BJP today charged Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav with spreading terrorist activities in the state by protecting the SIMI and and giving free hand to 'madarsas' to encourage terrorism through Indo-Nepal border.

Talking to newspersons here, UP BJP unit president Keshari Nath Tripathi said despite clear instruction from the centre, the state government had not banned the SIMI.

''Madarasas on the Indo-Nepal border have become centres for spreading terrorist activities in UP, as SP is following appeasement policy to enrich its vote bank for the coming assembly elections,'' he alleged.

''The unity and integrity of the country is at stake,'' Mr Tripathi claimed, adding the CM should ban such organisations, ''as it has been proved beyond doubt that 34 UP districts are in the grip of terrorist activities.'' Noting that since the Indo-Nepal borders were open, he said the inflow of terrorists was on and Madarsas were giving full protection in the name of educating Muslim children.

''The issue has been raised time and again, but Congress and the Samajwadi Party could not check their activities despite intelligence reports,'' he said also accuging the SP of fanning communal sentiments among the people.

''UP has become the main centre for cow slaughter. The CM could not dare to punish the guilty, as mostly they belong to the minority community,'' he said The BJP leader claimed 267 cows were slaughtered in Meerut and Ghaziabad recently. ''When BJP workers organised a 'havan' as part of a 'purification programme', they were implicated in criminal cases and put behind bars.'' MORE UNI KSP VS VD RAI2030
