Modi declares Rs 1 lakh compensation for each blast victim

Surat, May 26 (UNI) Paying homage to the victims who died in the grenade attack in Kashmir yesterday, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today said the entire Gujarat is ashamed of the cowardly act of the militants.

Mr Modi paid homage to the departed at Salabatpura and visited the family members to express his condolences.

He also declared Rs 1 lakh each for the victims who died in the grenade attack.

He thanked the central government for arranging special aircraft to transport the bodies.

Commenting on the ongoing reservation row, Mr Modi said that the existing reservation laws need to be reenacted.

Mr Modi arrived here to inaugurate water distribution schemes initiated by Surat Municipal Corporation at Pal-Planpur and Variyav on the outskirts of the city.

He will lay the foundation stone for 250 MW SLPP expansion project, at Surat Lignite Power Plant (SLPP) on Saturday.
