Quake in Kashmir, no report of any damage
Srinagar, May 26 :An earthquake of mild intensity rocked the capital of Jammu and Kashmir and its adjoining area this morning.
The tremors, which were felt at 0612 hours, measured 4.7 on the Richter Scale.
A spokesman for the Meteorological department here said the epicentre of the tremors was somewhere in Himachal Pradesh.
Officials said there was no report of any loss of life or damage to the property in the state.
People rushed out of their houses as the devastation caused by the killer quake in October last, that left about 1500 people dead and thousands rendered homeless, is stall fresh in their minds.
This was the second mild intensity quake in the valley during the past one week. On May 22, a tremor of 3.7 intensity rocked the rejion and it was epicentered on the Indo-Pak border.
