Kolhapur, May 25 (UNI) The students of five medical colleges in this and the neighbouring Sangli districts today took out a protest morcha under the banner of youth for equality in support of their demands.
The students gathered at Laxmipuri and marched to the office of district collector shouting slogans in support of their demands.
There, they submitted a memorandum to resident district collector Milind Pathak.
They protested against the yesterday's decision of the United Prgoressive Alliance (UPA) government committee and condemned the divide and rule policy of all politicians, student leader Kathale said and warned that if their demands are not met, they will leave no stone unturned to destroy the Congress government.
He said that if the government wanted to have reservations then they should first implement it in the Parliament along the lines of reservations in the medical institutions. The reservations in the higher educational institutions should be based on economic stats of a person and not on the basis of caste, he added.
