Leopard falls into well in HP
Una, May 26 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Forest officials said efforts were on to rescue a leopard that had fallen into a well in Chowki Maniar village of Una district of the state on Wednesday night.
A passerby heard the roars of the leopard from inside the 25-feet deep well and reported the matter to the village panchayat, which in turn informed the forest officials.
Assistant Conservator (Forests) Anjani Kumar said they had procured a cage to catch the leopard, but it could not be transported to the site because of the inaccessible terrain.
Ruling out the use of the tranquilizer gun to make him unconscious while trying to rescue him from the well, he said the animal would drowned after the tranquilizer shot.
Mr Kumar said they would lower a wooden ladder into the well at night, hoping that the leopard would be able to climb its way to the top.
