Jaju's anticipatory bail plea order deferred to Monday

Mumbai, May 26 (UNI) A Sessions court here today deferred the anticipatory bail plea order of Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra's former secretary Prakash J Jaju to May 29, in order to clear confusion arising over the nature of the offence.

Arguing before the court, Jaju's counsel R M Upadhya contended that section 506 (II) was a non-bailable offence in Maharashtra, while public prosecutor argued that it was a bailable offence as per the law books.

On that, Additional Sessions Judge A T Vaidya directed the prosecutor to get a documentary evidence to substantiate his argument so that he can dispose off the case accordingly.

Jaju had filed an ABA before the sessions court on May 24 fearing arrest on a complaint lodged by Priyanka's father Ashok Chopra on May 22 for allegedly issuing threatening calls to the Chopra family and sending vulgar messages to his daughter Priyanka.

He prayed in his application that the FIR has been registered against him maliciously and only to take revenge and humiliate him.

Jaju said a case, filed against Priyanka in Andheri Metropolitan court in 2004, is still pending for breach of contract as she had not paid his Rs 1.34 crore remuneration during his tenure as secretarial service provided to actress for the past four years period.
