ICRI collaborates with Cranfield University UK

Kolkata, May 26 (UNI) Institute of Clinical Research India (ICRI) today collaborated with Cranfield University to start a two-year M.Sc programme in Clinical research studies.

Around 850 students can study in the institute's campuses in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore by paying Rs 4.8 lakh course fee, ICRI executive director Dr Hari Gautam said.

With the growing demand for clinical research professionals, ICRI is planning to start its own campuses in Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad in a year's time, Dr Gautam said.

Cranfield University is among the top three clinical research institutes in the UK in terms of placements, with 97.1 per cent of students placed in recognised organisations in the world, ICRI chief operating officer Amitava Ghosh said.

The Indian pharmaceutical industry is expected to grow to US$ 7.4 billion in 2010. The collaboration would be fruitful as over 50,000 clinical research personnel were required in India by 2010. The demand is palpable in the whole world with 2,50,000 vacant positions, he added.
