Financial assistance for war widows from Army welfare fund
Chandigarh, May 26 (UNI) The Army would provide scholarship from Army Welfare Corpus to war widows, wards of soldiers died in harness and war disabled, according to Punjab Sainik Welfare Director.
Brig J S Jaswal said that the scholarship includes tuition, transportation, hostel, books, school uniforms and other charges and stationery (up to Rs 250 per year per student). Only those students would be entitled for scholarship, who have obtained 45 percent or more marks, he added.
He further informed that after declaration of results for the year 2005-06 the duly filled forms alongwith required documents should be sent to Adjutant General branch of Army Headquarter, New Delhi before October 31 this year.
The detailed information regarding application forms are available with District Sainik Welfare Offices, he added.
The Director further said besides education scholarship scheme, the financial assistance for purchase of motorized tri-cycles for war disabled soldiers, marriage of their daughters, re-marriage of widows and agri based occupation vocations, dairy development, training and self employment could also be obtained from Army welfare corpus.
