Change in egg schedule due to Uma Bharti's plea: Minister

Chennai, May 26 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu Government has decided to effect a change in the schedule of egg supply to children under noon meal scheme following an appeal from Bharat Jansakthi Party Founder Uma Bharti, State Electricity Minister 'Arcot' N Veersamy told the Assembly today.

Intervening in a debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor's address, he said the government had earlier announced that eggs would be supplied to the children on Tuesdays and Fridays.

However, following Ms Bharti's request that eggs should not be provided on Friday, the government had changed the schedule to Monday and Wednesday, he added.

Earlier, speaking on the debate, Mr S V Shanmugham (Cong) wanted to know the reason behind the change of schedule.
