Bill to exclude some communities as SCs in Kerala
New Delhi, May 26 (UNI) The government will bring in a Bill in the next Session of Parliament to exclude Ezhuvas, Thiyyas and Thachans as Scheduled Caste communities in Kerala.
The ineligible communities will not remain entitled for getting benefits as admissible to SCs in Kerala, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters after the Union Cabinet meeting that took the decision in this regard.
The Cabinet approved the Kerala government's proposal to modify the existing entry 'Thandan' in the Kerala Scheduled Caste list to ''Thandan (Excluding Ezhuvas and Thiyyas who are known as Thandan in the erstwhile Cochin and Malabar areas, and carpenters who are known as Thachan in the erstwhile Cochin and Travancore State)'', Mr Dasmunsi said and added that the Scheduled Caste Orders (Amendment) Bill, 2006 will be introduced in Parliament in the next Session.
