Ambitious graduate will now cool his heels

Hyderabad, May 26 (UNI) An ambitious graduate, who resorted to burglary to amass capital for setting up his own software firm, was arrested today by the police from his Secunderabad apartment Briefing newspersons on the arrest, Additional Commissioner of Police Rajiv Trivedi said Mohd Avez Ahmed was arrested by the Crime Team of West Zone police and stolen property worth Rs 13 lakh seized.

The accused confessed to breaking into 12 houses between December 2005 and May 2006.

Apart from 56 sovereigns of gold jewellery and diamonds, police seized laptops, DVD players, cameras, cell phones, TVs and 400 USD Dollar.

Mr Trivedi said documents relating to savings accounts, fixed deposits and property were unearthed from the accused's residence.

Later, talking to media, the accused, a graduate in Maths, said he resorted to burglary to amass money to begin a software firm.

It only required five minutes to break open the latch with the help of a screwdriver, he added.
