Adulterated oil worth one crore seized in Mumbai

Mumbai, May 26 (UNI) In a joint operation of Food and drugs Department (FDA) and Enforcement Department of Mumbai police today conducted raids in four separate places and seized 2,08,143 litres of adulterated edible oil worth Rs one crore and arrested 17 people.

The raid was conducted at Shivam Oil, Kurla Masrani Chowk; Shanti Stores, Maulana Chawl, Gaodevi Road, Ghatkopar in eastern suburbs.

The police have arrested 17 persons on charges of adulteration, sources said.

The accused, who had godowns of edible oils, used to break the seal of original package of edible oil and mix palm oil in it and sell in the market, sources added.
