'Vande Mataram' powers anti-reservationists
Varanasi, May 25 (UNI) The rants of 'Vande Mataram' powered people from cross sections of society, who carried out 'Maha Rally', a massive protest march against the OBC reservation, here this evening.
The march that started from the Institute of Medicial Sciences, Banaras Hindu University (IMS-BHU) culminated at the Assi Ghat.
Besides, the medicos of BHU, agitating over the issue for over 10 days, the procession included the teachers, besides students from other colleges, lawyers, traders and religious leaders.
The procession also saw for the first time, senior doctors of BHU like Prof A K Gulati, take to streets in support of the cause espoused by their wards.
The procession was led by the general secretary of Indian Medical Association (IMA, Varanasi) Dr Sanjay Rai, and prominently comprised youth wearing T-Shirts, bearing eye-catching slogans like ''Kill me before you kill merit.'' Meanwhile, the indefinite strike of the junior doctors in the Sir Sunder Lal Hospital in BHU continued for the 11th day today, while relay-hunger strike by MBBS students entered its 6th day.
