UP to revamp airports security
Lucknow, May 25 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh government has decided to put in place emergency security plan and deploy Quick Response Teams (QRTs) at airports in the state.
A decision to this effect was taken at a high-level meeting here chaired by principal secretary (Home) S K Agarwal and attended by Director General of Police (DGP) Bua Singh, senior police officers and civil aviation authorities.
The officials discused at length the security arrangements at airports in Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Allahabad, Gorakhpur and Agra, an official spokesman told newsmen.
It was decided to approach the centre for deployment of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and QRTs at Kanpur airport, while the district administrations of Varanasi, Agra and Lucknow had been asked to implement emergency security plans immediately.
Various security lapses, including parking of vehicles at Amausi airport, Lucknow, in no-stop zone on Lucknow-Kanpur highway were pointed out during the meeting. It was also decided to shift Garera village, adjacent to Lucknow airport, elsewhere for security reasons.
