UP polls: Paswan welcomes non BJP, SP morcha

Allahabad, May 25: Lok Janshakti Party president and Union Chemical, Fertilisers and Steel Minister Ram Vilas Paswan has said that if a non-BJP, SP and BSP morcha was formed to contest the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, he would extend his full support to it.

Talking to newspersons here yesterday after addressing a 'Dalit Alpsankhyak Adhikar' rally, Mr Paswan claimed that the BJP, SP and BSP were engaged in a caste and religion based politics and the ''people were fed up with them''.

The minister said his party would field candidates on all UP assembly constituencies but if like-minded parties including the Congress wanted an electoral alliance, he would welcome it.

Mr Paswan said he was in constant touch with former Prime Minister VP Singh and if ''all went well, we will have an electoral alliance with his newly formed Janmorcha.

The LJP is all geared up for UP assembly elections and would hold rallies in every district of the state to to gather support of the people, he said, adding that the first rally would be organised in Varanasi on October 5 and the concluding one in in Lucknow on January 8.

Criticising BSP president Mayawati, Mr paswan alleged that she was insulting dalits. The SP was engaged in caste politics and the BJP, in the name of the Ram temple at Ayodhya, was once again trying to befool the people, he added.

Speaking about the LJP's policies the minister said his party's fight was not against any caste or religion but to ensure that all sections of society had access to the basic necessities.

He said unity of dalits and Muslims would bring a massive political change in the state.
