Two sentenced to death
New Delhi, May 25 (UNI) A local court today awarded death sentence to two persons charged with killing and dismembering a friend five years ago.
Additional Sessions Judge S C Rajan passed the order against Dr Jameel Ahmed -- a Congress functionary from Kandla in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh -- and his accomplice Dilshad.
They were found guilty of having throttled Giani Ram and cut him into pieces. Dr Ahmed suspected Giani, a family friend, was having an affair with his wife.
Police had found the body pieces in four gunny bags at Old Delhi Railway Station on March 2, 2001.
During investigations, it was found that Dr Ahmed had called Giani to his house, killed him and put the sawed off body parts on a train.
The prosecution examined 26 witnesses during the trial.
While pronouncing his order, the judge noted that the accused had reached such a limit of revenge ''where all limits end of a civilised society''.
Two other accused Ehsan and Fazluddin were acquitted for lack of evidence.
