Two of the eight bids qualify for wheat import tender by STC
New Delhi, May 25 (UNI) Two of the eight bids including one from Australian Wheat Board Ltd (AWB) and the other from Singapore-based Agrico Trading have technically qualified for supply of wheat to India.
The State Trading Corporation(STC) floated the tender for import of 3 million tonnes of wheat and received only eight bids promising to supply 2.68 million tonnes The bids were opened today and are valid until May 30, Minister of State for Akhlesh Prasad Singh told the mediapersons here today.
The Minsiter said three bids were rejected because no amount had been spcified and three others had been rejected because they did not met technical requirements.
AWB, which had won a tender to ship 500,000 tonnes of wheat in March, has bid for 1.2 million tonnes. Singapore-based Agrico Trading, the other firm that has qualified for the tender, has bid to supply 500,000 tonnes.
