Train derailed, traffic disrupted

Jalandhar, May 25 (UNI) The train traffic on the down line of the Amritsar-Delhi route remained disrupted for over three hours following derailment of the Amritsar Ambala EMU train near Mannawala in Amritsar district today.

A Railway spokesman said here that 1AJL EMU train was on its way from Amritsar to Ambala via Jalandhar and Ludhiana when its engine derailed near Mannawala as the driver applied sudden brake after seeing cattles on the tracks.

The derailment delayed the Delhi bound 3005 Amritsar Delhi Swarna Shatabdi by over 45 minutes while the Delhi bound 2498 Amritsar Delhi Shaan-e-Punjab was delayed by over three hours.

The police was investigating into the circumstances of mishap.
