TDP chief clarifies on Third Front

Guntur, Andra Pradesh, May 25 (UNI) Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Supremo N Chandrababu Naidu today described as invention of the media that he had mooted the idea of forming a Third Front without the BJP and the Congress.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Naidu said he only suggested close interaction between like-minded parties at the national level.

The TDP had distanced itself from BJP and Babri Masjid issue because of its commitment to secularism and linguistic states.

Calling for a national debate on reservation, Mr Naidu suggested more help to socially and economically backward sections of the society.

Mr Naidu also charged the Congress Government in the state with misusing the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act to harass TDP workers in villages.
