SBI in Arunachal goes hi-tech
Itanagar, May 25 (UNI) The State Bank of India (SBI) branch at Naharlagun has become the first among the 40 branches in the state to adopt the highly sophisticated 'Core Banking Solution' (CBS) system.
The hi-tech system is convenient and customer friendly, bank's chief manager K Deb said.
The system permits ATM cardholders to withdraw upto Rs 20,000 per day from anywhere in the country provided the concerned bank also has this advanced system installed, he said.
''It is a single banking system window with a centralized system at Mumbai to facilitate customer deposit and withdrawal of money from any branch anywhere in the country. Accounting is just at the click of a mouse,'' explained Mr. Deb.
He, however, pointed out that updating of passbook was possible only in the original branch.
He informed that the Itanagar branch was also on the verge of adopting the same system.
Mr. Deb said the system was dependent on the BSNL for connectivity.
''De-linking of connectivity sometimes is a nuisance which trouble our esteemed customers'', he said.
In order to cater more to the growing demands of the customers and to ease work loads, Mr. Deb informed that SBI had also advanced their working timings which now began from 0800 hours to 1800 hours.
