Producers' Guild slams multiplexes over 'Fanaa' stand-off
Mumbai, May 25 (UNI) The Film&TV Producers Guild of India has condemned the action of multiplex owners to boycott the release of Yashraj Films' Aamir Khan and Kajol starrer 'Fanaa'.
In a letter to Multiplex Association of India president Deepak Asher, Guild president Amit Khanna has described the action as ''uncalled for and against the spirit of free enterprise''.
''In case your members decide to go ahead with the blockade, we too will have to advise our members to take whatever steps necessary to safeguard their interests,'' he mentioned in the letter.
Khanna further noted that producers are the fountain head of the film industry and the ''confrontationist attitude'' of the multiplex owners will only lead to disquiet in the fraternity.
He also assured that he would do whatever possible in his capacity to resolve the dispute.
